Review on Dorman 926-328 Manual Trans Shift Knob: Ford Models Compatible by Sam Carter

Excellent replacement part for 2008 Ford Ranger. The original rubber grip was peeling off. These knobs are pressed in, not screwed in. Removal can be very difficult. Remove: Press on the rubber shift boot. Take a 5/8" wrench and hit the bottom of the handle with a hammer to remove it. If that doesn't work, you may need to do a little work. I literally had to rip all the rubber and plastic off the handle and hit the metal center of the handle with a flashlight. (Differential heating between metal center and plastic insert, breaking the connection between metal shaft and plastic at the metal center of the knob.) I never thought I'd take a flashlight to install a shift knob, but here we are. Installing the replacement grip took 6 hammer blows, easy enough.
