The only tricky part of the installation is the standoff nut or what DeeZee called it at the beginning of the installation. As long as you're careful how tight you make it (I've had no problems, but I can see how easy it would be to damage the expander nut) installation should be easy and take 15 minutes or less! I did it in less than 15 minutes and my tailgate falls down nicely! I installed it on my 2011 GMC Sierra SLE with a factory sprayed liner and an aftermarket decklid and I have enough clearance for parts, no rubbing and unlike other people mine makes NO noise. Maybe I'm very lucky? I don't know, but it works very smoothly. Curious to see how he's handling his first winter in Massachusetts. $20 well spent!
