Just installed today and it works great and took less than an hour. I had a small problem with the threaded insert that caused it to expand, the insert kept turning. After several attempts with pliers, I calmed down, opened and held the thread perfectly. The kit includes a thrust bearing to help install the threaded insert, which is very convenient. I like it very much. It works exactly as I had hoped. The tailgate falls freely about 1/3 of the way down and then that bump kicks in and slows it down to a nice smooth stop. Installation wasn't too bad, but installing the threaded insert was very difficult, I had to use a vise. careful to prevent it from spinning freely by trying to hold the hex key and turn the other key.
