Review on Enhanced Smart Wi-Fi Garage Door Opener: Apple HomeKit, Siri, Alexa & Google Assistant Compatibility, No Hub Required, Wireless Remote Control by Rick Kreutzer

Great to work, easy to install!

I chose this product because it doesn't need a 'hub', doesn't communicate with the internet and doesn't need a 'cloud service', subscription or my subscription to anything else. In that sense it's perfect. It connects to the local Wi-Fi and the Android app communicates with it. Not being a fan of working on a ladder overhead, I decided to plug the activation cable into the existing wired garage door switch. The two wires from the breaker to the switch are on two screw terminals and I unclipped them and added an RSG100 control wire to them. That's when I discovered that there was no outlet near the wired garage door switch. So I got a 16 gauge landscaping wire from ACE Hardware and ran it all the way to the outlet. The included magnet and reed switch doesn't even allow for 1/2 inch of space and it was impossible to find a spot on the door itself to put a magnet where the tracks, rollers etc would not move Neodymium bar magnet I had polarity (north/south pole of the magnet) is important so I brought it up to the supplied magnet and rotated it until the two magnets repelled - meaning the sides facing each other had the same polarity. I placed it on the door with the same polarity as the supplied magnet facing out and attached the other side to the door. - it alerts you to open or close - you can set an open/close schedule - you can set it to close after a certain number of minutes open - the app is intuitive and easy to use - the box comes with a QR code inside that leads directly to the user guide (although a printed one is included) - they come with a double-sided stick (but I saved two with my magnet) - they come with a zip-tie so the excess cable doesn't dangles . It looks and feels professional. This is NOT a cheap fake. Wifi is great too as it goes through the outside chain link wall. If I had another garage I would buy another one of these :) then a metal cable and then plug in and move. I made two custom brackets: 1) an L bracket that attaches to the outside of the track and I installed a reed switch (a magnet-like thing with two black wires) on it, and 2) an INSIDE door bracket, to mount a neodymium magnet in close proximity to the reed switch when in the closed state. 2€ aluminum, some work with drill and hacksaw, and it works perfectly again, only this time you don't have to think about the magnet moving again because it doesn't touch anything that attracts it : )

Cons
