TGL vs. Smittybilt comparison

I bought a pair of black TGL 3/4" D-ring braces with these Smittybilt braces. the cost of Smittybilt braces ($18 for two TGL braces compared to 26 USD for two Smittybilt braces in March 2016). The TGL brand looks like a copy of the Smittybilt brace. The Smittybilt brace has the word "Smittybilt" in raised letters on it, but that's about it. It wouldn't do me surprised to know they are both made by the same company on the same line - the threads on the pins are clean and screw in easily - the load limit is indicated by raised letters/numbers the thread pitch and pin size are the same hence the details The two Brands are interchangeable - Paint is a little thicker on Smittybilt shackles Cons: - Bla Paint ck is a little thinner on the TGL brand I originally thought the paint Thickness is a buying factor, so I started buying Smittybilt shackles (which are a thicker color). However, after normal handling of the two braces, the color does not stay lighter. Small bumps or scratches on hard surfaces (concrete, metal, etc.) will easily remove paint. You can see some of them in the attached photos and they are in the process of assembling the brackets, attaching them to the receiver etc. Both brands are made in China. In the future I will be buying TGL braces, not the Smittbilt brand. I see no good reason to pay a higher price for Smittybilt. (Note: The Smittybilt mount is in the attached images to the right.)
