Works great and nice display

I've bought several similar displays in the past, none of which came with documentation. After spending too much time trying to get them to work, I gave up. That was not the case with this display! It worked right out of the box and came on a mini CD with several example Arduino sketches, the necessary library files and datasheets. The cost of this display wasn't much more than what I've paid for non-working displays. I've tried all the example sketches provided and they all compiled with no errors and worked "as advertised". This display connects directly to the UNO with no external wiring. Since most shields that work with UNO can also be used with MEGA, this display CAN work with MEGA if you have done the external wiring. This is because the SPI bus wiring is different in UNO and MEGA. Unless you need an SD card, which requires an SPI bus, you may not need external cabling. I have not tried this ad on MEGA. You must provide your own SD card if you wish to use one. I ran into the SPI difference a while ago and was able to add a few jumpers and change a few pin numbers and it worked. Since this display "covers" all pins, you need to "insert" jumpers, which is probably not a big deal. At least the supplied sketch based on the SD card would be a good guideline for using the SD card. I don't have a specific use for the display yet, but I think it should also work with the Arduino UNO 101, which has a built-in Bluetooth interface. This made it possible to communicate wirelessly, as in a telephone application.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not sure
