Let me start by saying that I bought many other HDMI Cat6 extenders before I bought them that were cheaper and damn I regretted it after I bought it! My original project was to run two Category 6 cables (Cable Material, Heavy Duty Cat6, 23 AWG, UL Listed, CM Rated, 550MHz) connecting to a CCTV DVR in the building and to a TV on the second floor were connected. The distance was about 130-140 feet. I've bought Category 6 HDMI extenders from brands like Monoprice ($59), Sabrent ($39), and Portta ($17) that I've had on other projects. Monoprice claims to operate up to 196 feet while Sabrent claims to operate up to 200 feet. That wasn't the case with me at all! Both Monoprice and Sabrent showed "no signal" on TV, there was absolutely no connection and it's around 130-140 feet. I even tested multiple devices as I ordered more than one but nothing. So I figured what the heck, let me try these cheap $17 (98ft range) portta extensions while I wait for the new ones to arrive and see if they show anything. And to my surprise, they actually had a signal! However, everything was purple and distorted by noise and lines, and the image was almost unrecognizable, so I had to keep looking and was now willing to spend the extra money to actually get something that worked. I came across these HDMI extenders from Cable Matters. and bought two. They came in a day and I installed them and they worked great! The picture is excellent (CCTV surveillance) and the overall quality and build quality of the devices is excellent! The units are very sturdy and come with mounting brackets so they can easily be wall mounted or double sided tape can be used if you don't want to drill holes. The packaging is also very nice and organized which makes the product very high quality. The great thing is that they only work with one Cat6 cable compared to the cheaper ones that require two Cat6 cables running from the extender to the receiver. So if you want to ride a 6-seater over 100ft I would HIGHLY recommend it because as I mentioned the brands that claim they can go 200ft didn't even get the job done at 130-140ft. Also, my experiences may differ from those who are looking for the sound and perfect picture quality of a movie, as in my situation no sound is needed and the picture doesn't have to be perfect 1080p, so I can't give any guarantees about this. However, if you read some of the other reviews, people claim that it has very good picture and sound quality over long distances. Also, don't make the same mistake I did, spend a little more and you get what you paid for. I hope this review helps avoid the same mistake I made. Buy them, don't think about it! This will save you time and headaches in the long run.
