Easy repair, perfect for 2007 Silverado 4.8L

Used for 2007 Silverado 4.8L. The electrical plug fits well, no adapter required. The original canister had both an inlet and an outlet leading to a long hose (about 5-6 feet) with a small filter on the end. This replacement part has only one inlet port. The price for a genuine part for a 2007 Silverado was about $100. I read on the internet that this replacement part would work fine so I gave it a try. It is very easy to remove the old part. Simply cut the heat shrink tubing, disconnect the electrical connector. The canister has a mount that slides on a rail, just remove it, a little spray lube might help. The original exhaust hose was held in place with just a couple of clamps and routed to sit on top of the gearbox and come out fairly easily. A fresh install required a couple of inches of 5/8 heated hose and 2 hose clamps, reconnect power and slide the mount onto the rail. Everything fit perfectly. Revert the code with an ODB scanner and you're good to go. Keep in mind that you will need to drive about 100 miles after resetting the codes if you schedule an inspection. After you have set the codes, the vehicle computer must record the data again, otherwise the vehicle inspection center will read it as "not ready". I'm sure the dealer would charge a few hundred dollars for this repair. With this part, the repair cost about $30 and took 20-30 minutes total.
