Ooooooo. when to start First I googled for several hours to get this working. And you can get it working with more research, but I hope I'll save you some trouble. For reference, I'm using Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6. Before we talk about the driver needed, although the AOC website says you don't need drivers if you have a Mac, let's talk about the USB situation. As such, it comes with a branched USB cable. There is a very short USB cable and a longer one that splits in two. If your Mac is fairly new, it should run on a single cable. My laptop is mid 2015 and can be powered from a single USB cable. So I connected one side to the monitor and the other to the USB hub. I found this USB hub to work great with this monitor - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G8CMR18?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_product_details if you need more USB ports. This USB hub also connects to your computer so you can use this monitor, wireless mouse and even phone (for iTunes) with it. But if you plug it directly into your computer, it should work just fine. When your monitor is set up it looks like it will turn on, you will see the AOC logo or an icon that suggests connecting to a computer that happens. If you see the USB logo icon, it means it's getting enough power but can't detect a connection to your computer. Try a different port. I have one port on my laptop that works and another doesn't. Find out. If the AOC logo is flashing on it, it may need more power or you may need to install the correct drivers. Now I couldn't find the right drivers on the AOC website, but down the rabbit hole I was able to find out that the type of driver you need to get this working is from DisplayLink. They update their drivers regularly, so google and bookmark them. I can't post a link here, but if you google you should be able to find it. Make sure you install the correct one for your operating system. In addition, this site provides an excellent step-by-step guide to making sure your computer will accept an application that is not from an Apple Authorized Vendor. This is very hard. But after playing with it, it should work. Sometimes there is a problem with the monitor dimming, and then it happened to me. During an 8-hour workday, it flashes 3 times a day and usually doesn't turn back on the fourth time. I unplug it and plug it back in and everything is fine. DisplayLink is aware of this and is working on a driver to fix the issue. So keep an eye on it if you have this problem. The quality of the monitor is not very good, it is a bit pixelated. If you're using a laptop with a Mac Retina display, you'll notice a definite difference. I wouldn't use this for graphic design, but if you use it for coding it's perfect. I use it vertically for coding and it's excellent. It's not too big, doesn't take up much space and you can take it with you. Four stars for easy setup and screen dimming.
