I weld a lot at work, I'm a locksmith. Bought this machine for home use on projects. The SMAW (stick) function works perfectly. I'm used to the hot start feature on most welders, so the feature annoys me when I'm welding in the wrong position, especially on 3/32 rods which tend to stick very easily. The rest of the arc is even and I can place a very good caterpillar. I usually use 7018 and 7024. The plasma cutter works fine. The description on this page says there is a Pilot Ark, but it isn't. If you increase the air pressure and keep the electrode and tip straight when assembling, the consumables will last quite a while. I can get about 200" cut on a 1/4" slab. Tried TIG today. I was impressed. It cooked better than the $3,000 machine I used at the union training center. Uses it on both stainless steel as well as on mild steel. It has no AC, pulse, or modified wave functions but has a very smooth arc and you don't have to scrape to fire it.Just step on the pedal and the arc starts at 1/4 distance in. Makes tungsten much longer.
