Review on 🔌 ViewHD 1x2 HDMI Splitter with Built-In Audio Extractor and Optical / RCA L/R Stereo Outputs - VHD-1X2HSACi by Benjamin Glasper

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great - does everything it says it does and more

Revain's list includes 7 completely different products from the same manufacturer, ranging in price from $16 to $188. And because of Revain's stupid rating system for such lists, reviews for all 7 completely different products are mixed up. This review is only for "HDMI Splitter 1x2 with Built-in Audio Extractor" ($33.50 at time of purchase). Great, well thought out product, does exactly what I need and does it well. It really does three different things: 1. Broadcast 1 HDMI input to two HDMI outputs (e.g. if you want to display the signal on 2 different screens). I don't use it for this.2. Removes HDCP protection for the signal as an "unadvertised bonus" (to allow you, for example, to record an HD broadcast for later viewing, or to record a gaming session, or whatever. I don't use it for that either.3. Audio from Split HDMI input to audio outputs RCA style stereo and optical TOSLINK for 5.1 channel audio (sound stays even with HDMI signals) This is my main use For example if you buy a Roku Ultra box with HDMI outputs , but want to route the sound through an audio sound system, you'll need to buy such a box, as Roku, in its endless ignorance, doesn't have an audio output on its box (even the top-of-the-line Roku Ultra has), only HDMI embedded audio. But the box worked flawlessly and did exactly what I needed, plug and play, all you have to do is flip the switch to the desired audio format (2ch analog stereo or optical 5.1).

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Nothing

even with a really nice exterior, the weight of cables will pull it ...
