Just received from Revain. I bought another device from JC Penneys but returned it because I couldn't use it. I bought this on purpose because it was advertised to attach directly to the fridge with magnetic force. First of all, observe the safety instructions. THESE MAGNETS ARE VERY STRONG, when I put the thin metal plate back as instructed after removing the plastic screen, the plate immediately stuck to the magnet, pinching my finger skin badly. It hurts me writing this. However, the big problem isn't the painful pinch and blister that was left on my finger. The big problem is that the block isn't flat, it's convex along its entire length. This means that the surface does not come into contact with the refrigerator. The magnetic force is very weak without direct contact, so the rod will not stick to the side wall of the refrigerator. I have some strong double sided tape that I've tried using to secure the ends of the rod to the fridge but they won't hold. hold on tight and the whole thing came to a head in a few minutes. I tried again using more tape on the ends to see if it would stay, but I have my doubts. I can return this product in the next few days. BTW I don't think it will work even if you fix the metal plate that comes with the kit on a flat surface. The side of the magnet is convex and will not stick.
