It really works for learning.

For a long time I thought these collars were inhuman and terrible for training. I hate to admit I was wrong, but I was wrong. This system was a great way to keep my 2 dogs safe, happy, off leash and most importantly under control. I believe dogs should be free, off-leash and happy when appropriate. I originally bought this system in the 500 yard version and it has worked great for a long time, it recently failed and needed replacing so I upgraded to 1/2. mile version. Everything about this system is great, my dogs are both lab rescues, they love to run, play, swim and be active. I took both dogs to basic training when they were puppies, they did great, then after a while the training took some adjustments which they just made. Trouble coming when called and leaving some unwanted things on earth and moving on. I was hesitant but I used this system to retrain for them, they did so well. I kept the workouts short and sweet, little by little they started to understand that vibration means that in the beginning I want your attention, they need more support, so I use both on 1-2. I rarely had to go on 4s now they use vibration 98% of the time and only once when one of them was chasing a horse on the trail I had to use 6 but it was pretty far away so I don't think they use it she felt it so bad she cried out. but she immediately turned and came right back to me, wagging her tail so hard that she came back quickly. Sometimes you need to hold the remote control in the air far enough away above your head to communicate with the dog. If you have a dog who is mostly already trained but would like to spend time together and off leash this system is a great way to make that possible or simply enhance your training with him. Now I believe in collars like this, I no longer believe they are harmful if used properly, they are still happy, healthy dogs the way we want them to be.

Pros
  • Electronic training collars
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
