Review on Cuisipro Hand Held Mandoline Guard by Sabrina Geppert

My first reaction after finally taking it out of the box was "Fantastic! Finally!" A very thoughtful practical kitchen tool: the thickness is adjustable with a knob on the side. The deck of the cutting blade remains stable and the sliding side is adjustable. The blade on the hard spot moves in and out on the right side and can be reversed for julienne or straight. The second blade, located in front of the larger main blade, has vertical blades in 1/4" increments, reversible in 1/8" increments, that extend and retract on the left side. This blade can be removed for slicing or used for dicing (or long strips by removing the larger flat blade/julienne). A grater is hidden behind the handle inside under the movable deck. The grater can be inserted into the slot for flat knives or used separately from the device. All parts can be easily removed for cleaning - yes! The handle and opposite end are rubber coated, making the handle easier to hold and allowing the opposite end of the device to be placed more securely on fragile containers or avoiding scratching metal containers. It is lightweight and well suited for a variety of slicing/shredding container sizes. Also included is an adjustable handguard that slides very well on the platform side rails. It is made of lightweight plastic with metal blades. The blades are also not heavy enough to do heavy slicing/shredding, but are fine for small batch fruits and vegetables. For preparing food for canning or freezing, I find a sturdier mandolin will last longer and be more successful. I may be wrong, but I'd rather be wrong for a simpler use and have it available for a long time. Body and handguard are dishwasher safe; Blades should be hand washed and dried. Like all Cuisipro tools I've used, it's well engineered to do a great job. I love it and recommend it to everyone.
