Fits 2012 Kia Sorento SX and probably other non powered tailgates too. IMPORTANT - Do not loosen the screws from the vehicle's adapter plates! There are two panels on each side that are attached to the door/car with two screws. LEAVE THEM. This full replacement can be done without removing them. A full swap should take less than 10 minutes. - see here how I did it. All you need are your parts and a flathead screwdriver - do not use wrenches and/or socket sets: 1. Support the tailgate with a ladder or whatever2. Choose a page to start with.3. Take a flathead screwdriver 4. Locate the metal strip on both ends of the hydraulic rod. It secures the connector to the adapter.5. There is a slot to put a flat head under the strap. do it, pick it up The group should offer little or no resistance.6. Slide the tape from the slot to the end of the pole and remove7. Removing this tape will unlock the connector on the adapter plate. Carefully remove/insert the flat head between the rod connector and the adapter and gently pry the end of the rod.8. If necessary, repeat for the other end of the rod.9. You should now have the stem removed and both adapter plates should have an open ball end and remain bolted to the car and door10. Take out the new rod.11. DO NOT REMOVE METAL BAND12. Simply slide the top end onto the Adapter13 ball from the side of the vehicle. Gently rotate the door end of the rod clockwise until the hole in the receiver aligns with the ball adapter on the door. Your flat head can be an additional lever for this.14. Insert this end into the ball of the door adapter.15. One page is done! 16. Repeat steps on opposite side.17. Both pillars have been replaced and your door now holds up as it should! It is important to note that even if 1 rod fails, both must be replaced. You want a matching set.
