There are many tools for measuring chain wear but these Shimano tools seem to be the only ones that "accurately" measure chain wear. OK, that's enough for me. I have the default park tool and now this one. This allows for a little more wear before replacement is recommended. There's plenty of room in my toolbox for these advanced tools. Got a great price from Revain and have used this tool many times on my various bikes. I can't help but use both tools to measure and compare them. Yes, I would recommend it, but if I were to only buy one, I would buy a 'regular' wear tool (cheaper) and replace the used chains a bit sooner (minimizing wear on the cassette and sprockets).
