Review on 25 Foot EPAuto Heavy Duty Jumper Cable For Boosting Vehicles - 1 Gauge, 800A Capacity, Includes Safety Gloves And Carry Bag by John Baker

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very good performance for very little money, always worked - I've never had to use my solid copper pair in place of these.

I use these quite a bit, as I don't drive every day, and we have 3 cars, and one has a mysterious grounding/drain issue that seems to pop up and the other is just rarely driven for other reasons. I do have a charger, which I like to use, but it's one of those smart chargers, and sometimes if the battery is really dead - it won't charge at all - it needs to see a little voltage, apparently. I found the description of these cables accurate - they are copper covered aluminum, and while that's not the best, it's good enough for me so far. I do have an insanely heavy and expensive set of very long, solid copper cables from a local utility service truck, and I've never had to use them in place of these, so I'm pleased, because I have seen other people with horrible cables where mine would work and theirs didn't. I also like that these have little extensions on the clamps for those of use with side terminal batteries. The cables even came with a little set of gloves and an instruction tag strapped right to the cables - even a novice should have no issue using them and feeling safe.I've seen complaints about the bag being too small. This is only sort of true. Think about every single thing that stows cable or cord, from your vac food sealer, floor vac, speakers, portable jump kit - really almost anything - they all are designed to have the cables folded/wrapped in the most compact fashion to fit their in their little stow away compartment or bag - and these are no exception. They DO fit in the bag - you need to get used to folding them a certain way. This is also true regarding two other sets of jumper cables I have purchased, even the expensive solid copper ones meant for industrial trucks that came with an industrial strength storage bag - guess what? Tight fit, also - you have to roll them up a certain way. So sadly, this is to be expected.I got these on sale, they're a little more expensive now, but even if they're $20 - it's a great deal. It's silly to get shorter or thinner cables to save on space or money. Unless you have a motorcycle or a BMW Isetta, these aren't too big to store in the trunk, and $20.if you use these once - they've paid for themselves many times over. If you don't use them, it's worth it for the peace of mind. While I do have roadside assistance, it's really much more convenient to have a set in each car and not wait 45-60 minutes for the tow truck.

Pros
  • Works great
Cons
  • Might require additional adapters or tools to use
