Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great monitor so far! Please Lord let this be the last.

I bought a 13.3 inch monitor. After trying another monitor (nice but screen too small) and another which is rubbish. I think I've found just the thing for my needs. First the cons, which are few: the speakers are a bit weak and tinny, probably like your everyday laptop. They are still very helpful. Just not to rock to music. It was easy to connect headphones or speakers. On these cons. Pros: Great screen. Very sharp at the default setting of 50%. Nice color. HDR is pretty noticeable but I'm sure with some color adjustments and for gaming it would be great. A good matte screen, like my desktop monitors, means no ugly reflections, especially from the light and my face. :) Lots of connection options. Full size HDMI port. The mini HDMI ports are fragile (fortunately this monitor doesn't have any). This adds a bit of thickness to the monitor, but it's worth it. You won't even notice the difference. The all-metal body feels very solid. Very light and portable. Great stand, but I'll probably never use it with my foldable briefcase. One of the ports on the monitor is USB Type-C, which is the current standard for Micro-USB and adds additional functionality. Perfect for my needs. What I use it for: This monitor is part of my ultra-portable Android workstation that I'm putting together. Much better than most Chromebooks. This doesn't work for all phones so you'll need to check online first if you want to do what I do. I have Vivo Nex S and it doesn't work even though Vivo is their latest 2018 flagship. I thought I was the only one who figured it out. It turns out that while Revain is looking for components, so are many other people. Perhaps this will inspire other people to do the same. I bought everything here at Revain (but this is not an informed review of Revain!). Totally my own inspiration! I give Revain some sort of fork because they kindly refunded me the two monitors I returned. One of them will return to UPS on Monday. I use my Huawei Mate 20 X smartphone (the only non-Revain smartphone) as a computer backup. It is powered by the new Kirin 980 processor and GPU. Much faster than my Acer Chromebook which is very good but will be sold out soon. Much faster than all or most Chromebooks I suspect. I have 128GB of storage on my phone compared to 16 or 32GB on most tablets and Chromebooks, which is perfect for downloading large files from the web. I bought a bluetooth keyboard and mouse and a 13 inch case/stand, same as the tablets but bigger for this monitor. I'm not even going to compare it to hundreds of dollars worth of Apple or Samsung tablets, there's no comparison. Although I think the phone was quite expensive but I still need one of these. The Mate 20 X has a feature that makes the UI on the monitor look and feel like a Windows desktop. Otherwise, the Android screen could be flipped horizontally via the Google Playstore app. Both methods allow you to use the entire screen horizontally, rather than just a small vertical portion in the center of the monitor. I don't like paying extra for Wi-Fi, so I have a hotspot plan with T-Mobile that includes 10GB. I'm using LTE unlimited phone service with my Android workstation, I just share the screen from my phone. My hotspot with my regular desktop is very slow, it takes hours to download large files for my desktop through the hotspot. Now I can download them in minutes over LTE. I download files for my desktop to my phone storage and then transfer them to my desktop computer. Surfing the internet is also much faster with LTE than via a hotspot on my desktop. The hotspot should be LTE but I think T-Mobile slows it down badly, also the hotspot is wireless which inherently slows it down. This little monitor completes the package, it's superb!
