After using this lock for a year I can say it's legit! I used to have to push the lock on our sliding glass door 3 or 4 times before it finally latched and aged. Not to mention that you can shake the door back and forth and it will most likely unlock. I have bought 3 new locks in the 5 years that I have owned our home and each time they have broken or worn out. I finally decided to buy a padlock that doesn't sit next to the handle and I'm so glad I did. I installed it on the top of our sliding glass door (be careful not to use screws that are too long to break the glass). Then I drilled a hole in the head, marked the correct "latched" position of the door and installed the reinforcement plate. this every time after opening/closing the door), I can say that this unit still works like new. The door still cannot swing back and forth like it used to when using the door latch. I will be buying more of these locks for future sliding doors as well as other items as I can lock them with a key.
