Built-in navigation not loading

This device is connected to a 2021 Jeep Compass that supports Carplay. That's all. The device did what appeared to be a boot sequence but just continued in that mode and never booted to the screen. I know it's supposed to be "slow" but after 12 minutes of blinking and no screen I gave up. Tried it a few more times with the same result. The car doesn't even recognize that the device is connected to the USB port. The block I received turned out to be a flashing brick. Your mileage may vary. Mine was sent back.
