What's most impressive about this lens is the amount of light it collects and how well it handles it in different situations. I knew from other reviews that it would make a good portrait lens and that it was well built. What I didn't expect was that when I pushed it to the extreme, it would continue to deliver good results. Tested in various lighting conditions, astro and macro, it performs better than some of the much more expensive lenses I own. an image of the Milky Way showing the Lagoon Nebula and a macro of a small caterpillar. The lens has a minimum focusing distance of just under 3 feet, so I added some Meike extension tubes to bring the distance down to a few inches for macro photography. Even with 7 extension rings, the lens performed admirably. It's amazing how sharp the lens is even wide open; which is crucial for both astro and macro photography. The only downsides were noisy autofocus and some blue coma when shooting very white subjects from far away (white flower in bright light). You can easily compensate with a left shot or a correction on the post. In general I am very satisfied with the purchase and I have no hesitation in recommending it.
