We didn't buy any of these as we had a large butt cut that cut the pineapple in sixths but didn't cut the core so the work was still there and the outer sharp skin was also trimmed off. This coring tool does both of those jobs for you, and neatly slices the pineapple into rings. The only thing I don't like is how much pineapple sticks to the skin when your pineapple is chunky and round. With a slicer, you may have to deal with pitting and peeling, but you won't lose any extra pulp. With this corer, you may still need to cut into the outer skin and snip off the remaining large chunks of the pineapple. Other than that, this tool is easy to clean, hasn't rusted yet and stays sharp. If letting children use this, help them get in and then hold the pineapple still to avoid possible accidents.
