Fits 1999 Suburban. Installed perfectly

My son broke the original handle. As these trucks (GMT400 series) age, the internal links stretch and you have to pull harder and harder to open them from the inside. Before you start, I recommend that you buy a rivet gun. They're pretty affordable. Have a small assortment of rivets ready. On my Suburban 99 this is not easy to attach, I would have had a very difficult time getting to the metal door frame to hold the nut securely. The Rivet Gun made this a quick and easy fix. Your door lock actuators can also be riveted. They're much easier to get to so bolts/nuts can be used, but I haven't seen bolts as an option for the door handle on my Suburban. It's pretty easy to fix even if the inside handle isn't broken. Buy a door panel remover ($10 is safer, it makes the job a lot easier). 1) Remove the decorative ring around the handle. 2) Remove the two screws holding the inside door handle. 3) Using a sheet metal removal tool, loosen all snaps (start from the bottom). Do this ONLY from below and on both sides. 4) Pull UP to unhook the top of the door panel. 5) Maneuver carefully so you can disconnect all electrical connections without tearing the wiring. Set the plate aside. 6) Drill out the rivet holding it (I had an aluminum rivet, it's easy to drill out) and slide the old doorknob out of the way to remove it. 7) Insert the new one. Screw or rivet it. I went with the 3/16" aluminum rivet since it's MUCH faster and I had a rivet gun. There are tons of good videos on the web about it, just search. It's a common solution.
