Review on ๐Ÿ”ด Red Line 30804 Non-Slip Continuously Variable Transmission Fluid - 1 Quart (Pack of 6): Unmatched Performance and Safety by Terry Wilson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I've always had good experiences with Redline

Overall, I've found Redline transmission fluids to work well in extreme cold and heat. In an old 4L60E that slid a little until the fluid warmed up, I drained and filled with D4 and never again had a cold slip problem in that car. Based on that experience, I decided to try it on a Nissan with 130,000 miles on the CVT. Nissan extended the warranty on these CVTs to 120,000 because they are notoriously junk and prone to belt slippage. I've drained and refilled a 100k Valvoline CVT (I usually liked Valvoline for motor oil in motorcycles and cars) but during a long freeway ride on a 100* day at 123k miles I experienced a growl and a slight skid. When I got home I checked the liquid and it was a little frothy. When the warranty ran out I decided to investigate CVT fluids (Nissan is overpriced and doesn't seem to have good reviews). Was surprised Redline offered CVT fluid so ordered a box. Too lazy to throw the oil pan again, I sucked about 4 liters out of the dipstick tube and filled it up with a Topsider to change the boat oil. I'm sure this CVT is in borrowed time, but it hasn't made any noise or slipped in the last 10,000 miles since adding redline. I'm not sponsored by Redline but would love to accept a sponsorship as their motorcycle fork fluid is great too. :-) Why is hydraulic fluid good? The ability to maintain stable viscosity over a wide temperature range without rapid degradation. However, use a gear or fork oil that stays as stable as Redline.
