Review on πŸ”§ OTC 4513 Heavy-Duty 2-Piece Snap-Ring Pliers Set for Internal and External Use by David Encarnacion

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Worked with a very stiff 2 1/4 " ring on a Case 580C Bagger

I had an old snap ring pliers set for $15 at O'Reily. I know because I went there to see what they have - no better than what I already had. The ones I had the tips bent on without pulling a very stiff 2 1/4" diameter ring off the backhoe. I ordered this OTC kit. This over the counter kit worked well - took off the rings with no problems. People here and in the product description mention that this set is for large rings (3 1/2" - 6 1/8" outer rings). But the rings I've used it on were 2-2 1/4" out and they worked fine. I think the missing spec that might be useful here is how far apart the tips are when they are as close as possible. There are several tips, so it may vary slightly. But with the straight lines I used, the minimum distance between the centers of the tips is about 5/16" - slightly less. That was for the outer set. And I measured the same for the inner set (which I haven't used yet). Start them right, they screw in easily. BTW, the tips are .12" in diameter and are very They didn't flex at all and it took quite a bit of force to squeeze my rings together - I even felt that force with the huge lever handles on this kit.
