I took this to experiment with clay again after a 20 year hiatus from sculpting. I was able to get pretty good detail and it cured well. There seems to be a period when it reaches its best working rigidity. the first hour of work it is very sticky and sticky and a bit difficult to work with. It's in a good spot for the next hour as it's not very tacky and allows for pretty good detail. I found I had about 30 minutes afterwards to work on very fine details with wooden sculpting tools. I also use old toothpicks, which worked reasonably well afterwards. I've mixed 5 or 6 batches at this point with great success, but I also use a small scale to measure my two parts to make sure they're the same. I get about 0.02 grams and that seems to work best for me. I use a small pocket scale that costs about $10. I'm not sure, but I believe the temperature affects how long it takes to cure. Also, I haven't painted this yet, but other test pieces I've made took acrylic paint very well.
