Works with top door openers, somewhat limited range

We got a new home with two top door openers (screw drive) but the previous homeowner couldn't find remote controls for them (they used Homelink transmitters built into their cars were ), so I tried them. They were about half the price of the Overhead Door brand remotes and I didn't have to try to make an appointment to visit the local dealer during office hours so it was a pretty easy choice. Suffice it to say that although Overhead Door is a retailer and Genie is a direct consumer, Overhead Door and Genie are the same company. So you will see that many of their products are sold under both names. This remote will work with many other brands of openers, but since there seem to be a lot of questions about overhead door openers - and I have - I focused on them. Programming took about three minutes (the hardest part). part slipped the ladder under the opener and climbed up) and they work perfectly. On one of the two I bought, I programmed both doors to open one or the other depending on which button I pushed. Again, the process was painless and the programming instructions that came with the device did an excellent job of explaining the process. The rubber buttons are good, although I would have preferred a more audible "click" so I didn't feel the need to press the button. Descent. Maybe personal preference. As others have said, the range of these devices isn't great, but I've had success at the bottom of the driveway and don't wait for the door before driving into the garage, so I guess it's not a big deal. I used to have remotes that could open the garage door from three blocks away, but that won't be the case here. Of course, maybe that's not such a bad thing, because you don't have to worry about accidentally pressing a button when you're a few blocks down the street and then wondering if the garage door will open. the fact that if you accidentally hit the wrong button and open the wrong door, this will prevent you from simply stopping and turning the door. There seems to be a delay before another team logs in, so by the time you can close it again the door is 90% open. But since I honestly don't have the original sectional door remotes for my operators, I can't say for sure if it's a problem with the remotes or a problem with the operators. It's my own fault if that happens, so it's a very small moment. Another complaint is that they use a non-standard battery (CR2032 - 3V disc type). In fact, this may be why they aren't as powerful as some of the other options, as I've had bottle openers that used 9 volt batteries in the past. CR2032 cells are certainly cheaper than 9V batteries, but they won't last as long, so maybe the math doesn't work in their favor. I suspect the main reason they are used here is that they take up little space to keep the remote small. So if you're not as concerned about size and more concerned about range, you might want to look elsewhere. There's nothing more to say about that. They work with my doors at a lower cost than dealer replacement parts, are easy to program and set up, and offer versatile programming capabilities for multiple types of openers and multiple doors. Range might be the only real downside, but if you have average opening speed and don't need to control your doors from a quarter mile away, don't be afraid to "open" your wallet and grab one. .
