Another great product from Genie.

My Genie G-8000 garage opener was installed in 1993 and has run for 27 years without a single problem (what a product!). Suddenly one of the remote controls stopped working (checked the battery). I opened it up and found that the spring's metal contact plate was broken. I called Genie and looked for a replacement remote. The rep suggested the GenieMaster GMT3, a universal remote control that would work with the old Code Switches technology (Intellycode didn't exist in 1993). He also gave me…

but it has a very nasty bug. If I press often.

I am using this with an old Genie garage door opener which should be compatible. It works, but there is a very annoying bug. Often when I push the button to open the garage door, it will start to open and then stop after pulling itself up about a foot. Then I have to press the button again to close the door again and then press it again to fully open it. Also, in many cases it won't open for a few seconds and I have to press the button several times to finally open it fully a second time. The…

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Not sure

Like every Genie garage door opener I've ever owned, it's mostly fine. This works most of the time, but can be temperamental and doesn't work until you get close to the garage door, turn the remote in the right direction, hit the sweet spot, or spit on it. Unfortunately we get stuck with them. Be careful when buying universal openers, I did exactly that and found that they do not work as advertised. So what's new. I tried installing it for two garage doors, at first it worked and after a while…

) position. Use your fingernail to set the switches based on how your motor is installed in the garage (usually it's in a box next to the opener itself, and has an antenna (loose wire) hanging from it. Once you have these switches installed, follow Follow the instructions below Works 1. Remove the cap from the garage motor 2. Press the learn button above the small red indicator to the left of the bulb 3. The red learn indicator flashes 2 times per second 4. Press the remote control 5. The red…

Ideal Genie remote to replace 9/12 pin and Intellicode

This Genie remote is exactly what I was looking for! I have a Genie 9/12 pin and an Intellicode (post 1995 model) and the original remotes have become unreliable/broken. This 3-button remote not only solved the problem of hard-to-find, expensive original openers, but also eliminated the need for multiple remotes. Just as easy to set up! I programmed/assigned the buttons in less than 5 minutes. Great feel too, not bulky and clunky sounding like the original bottle openers. As I bought it with…

Works with top door openers, somewhat limited range

We got a new home with two top door openers (screw drive) but the previous homeowner couldn't find remote controls for them (they used Homelink transmitters built into their cars were ), so I tried them. They were about half the price of the Overhead Door brand remotes and I didn't have to try to make an appointment to visit the local dealer during office hours so it was a pretty easy choice. Suffice it to say that although Overhead Door is a retailer and Genie is a direct consumer, Overhead…
