A good choice for 2020 M1 Mac Mini owners running Big Sur OS

This monitor works very well with my 2020 M1 Mac Mini running the latest OS 11.1 Big Sur. I use an HDMI > HDMI cable straight out of the box with the monitor. I've been using the monitor for a few weeks. There were two initial problems, but they seem to have leveled out: - When I first connected the cables, turned on the Mac, and then turned on the monitor, it didn't receive a signal from the Mac. but that seems to be an isolated case. I restarted and everything was fine. You may have to play around with the order of which device you turn on first, computer or monitor. Nothing bad. I have sensitive ears and noticed that the monitor had a high-pitched hum when it was first turned on. I turned it off and on again and it went away. This only happened once every two weeks and was quickly resolved by power cycling. My opinion on this monitor will change if this becomes a recurring issue, but so far this has only happened twice in many hours of use. I leave my Mac on and just turn the monitor off and back on when I use it. There were no problems with signal reception and it was fast. When the monitor goes to sleep, it wakes up quickly and without problems. Image quality is as good as my previous 2011 iMac. The pixel density is good. The colors seem ok. I had to adjust some of the display features in the apps to make them bigger to match my vision. I believe the default mode is sRGB, which I find to be low power and dimmed, but I prefer it over the default mode. This is closer to what I used with my previous 2011 iMac. I've previously tried a different monitor (D3ll for $200) with an M1 Mac Mini and the resolution was terrible; no cable types could get it to work properly (HDMI>HDMI, USB-C>HDMI, DP>HDMI, none of them worked). I sent it back and am very happy to try this one and find it works well. It's not easy being a Mac owner on a budget, but so far this monitor has lived up to my expectations.

Pros
  • Asus
Cons
  • Flickering: If the monitor's refresh rate is too low, the display may flicker.
