I used this to pull the transmission out of my E46 M3 in the garage and it worked great. The only issue I had was that once the car was high enough to pull out the gearbox, it wasn't tall enough to reach the gearbox. As soon as I lowered the transmission, I had to jack up the car, which always shakes in the garage. Once the trance was on, everything was super stable. I'm so glad I didn't use any of those stupid adapters. It may be a different story, but I don't intend to tell it the way it came out, so it's not a problem for me. I would buy it again for work because it was much safer and handled a 200 lb drive like cheese.
