First impressions are pretty good. The brackets fit my 1x2 T-Nut roof rack without modification. Flat plates may be the best option, but it's not necessary at this stage. The weak points seem to be the straps and I'm sure the foam won't last long in the Arizona sun. I may update this review after some use if my mind changes or something needs to be mentioned. One thing to note is that you will need to lift the kayak a little higher than if you were to place it directly on the rungs. But after banging my head on the half-open hatch a few times, it's a small price to pay. The hatch is now fully open and not in contact with the kayak. In general, this is a good budget solution, there are cheaper options, but they offer good functionality for the money.
