Will not fit first generation FZ1 as per

I have an 03 FZ1 that was stolen earlier this year, somehow I got it back but the thief turned off the ignition, I bought it as a direct replacement and it doesn't fit. The gas cap fits but does not align the gasket and does not come with a new gasket but it was easy enough to replace the existing one. I probably should have aborted the install at this point, but figured it was just an accident. The ignition has wires and bolt holes that attach it to the top triple clamp. waste of time and money.
