Preparing orange juice: After pressing to the maximum with this juicer, too much "orange” remains in the peel. I ran the half of the orange after extracting it from the Focus through an old-fashioned juicer (rotating cone with ridges; squeezing the orange by hand) and got as much extra juice as the Focus was producing. Pomegranate Juice: Focus works better than old-fashioned juices. (It's a lot harder to pin a grenade on this spinning cone) but it still leaves a lot of grains that aren't pushed out as you can see in the pictures. All of these devices (not just this Focus) have a fundamental design flaw. When the handle is pushed down, it protrudes beyond the base (see arrow "A") and the entire unit tends to tip over (to rotate the front of the base). To prevent the device from tipping over, press on the back of the base (arrow "B"). The small suction cups on the bottom of the base are ok but not strong enough to prevent tipping. Solution: Extend the base further than the handle in a horizontal position. In addition, in order to squeeze 100% of the pomegranate seeds, the receiving cone for the press must have sharper edges. However, when cleaning and washing parts, it can become dangerous. I've seen "industrial" versions of this type of juicer, and they're larger and can really juice the entire half of a pomegranate. UPDATE a few weeks later: I've found that slicing a pomegranate into 4 columns gives much better results and squeezes out more juice.
