I installed this top rail on the exit side of the router table guard. It does not interfere with the movement of springboards or wood as it is slightly recessed on the face of the fence. Works great with the Kreg Production Fence serving as a fence for cutting mortise slots or decorative grooves on table legs. I have a gauge on my homemade cutoff saw guard as well as a Kreg miter gauge for my table saw, the parts are interchangeable and in constant use. I'm a big fan of these products - they make sense!
