Although my new Dodge has a rubber grommet around the gas filler cap, I chose it to allow ice, water, dirt and dust to get into the filler neck and be pushed into the gas tank by the pump. . A diesel does not like any of these pollutants! I just think it's an extra precaution. I would recommend this to all Ram diesel owners with a new filler neck. In addition, the magnet can be hung on a loop on the underside and remains there while refueling. It also comes with an extra O-ring.
