It was only 1 inch smaller than the larger ones you can get at Revain and I liked the wood of this one better. At first I was very disappointed with the size. Yes, I should have read the description better and pulled out a tape measure to measure my strands, but the pictures are really deceiving and make me look a lot taller than I really am. They must have used very small picture strands because they allow two strands plus needles to fit in one bowl. I can't even fit one of my regular worsted threads in it. I'd have to roll it into a ball to make it fit, but I don't think I'm ready to do that for every single project. Please note that all the other yarn bowls I've seen at Revain seem to be the same size. Problem, in the pictures they seem to fit an entire skein, but even the "x-large" 7x4 bowls wouldn't fit my skeins. So I might just have to take a regular bowl and ask my husband to cut out a thread guide. Aside from the size issue, my bowl had a very rough spot on the inside and a spot where the wood was patched with filler but it was expanding outward. Doesn't look very pretty.
