I have a Samsung S8 plus. The adapter didn't work initially. I had to set the USB mode to PTP and it worked great. To set the USB mode, go to ---> Settings/Developer Options/USB Configuration. If you don't have developer options in your settings, go to the "About phone" menu in the settings, find the "Build number" entry and tap on it seven times. Once you've done that, you'll see the "Developer Mode Enabled" message.
