If you haven't seen or used the Zoo Med Eco Carpet, it looks like an 1/8 inch piece of felt, but is made from soft plastic fibers made from recycled plastic containers. It is very well woven. and quite boring for a plastic product. It can be washed and reused when cleaning your terrarium. I use it against glass under a layer of aspen bedding. It prevents scalding under the glass heater if my python decides to burrow or burrow in a low spot in the litter above the heater. Don't use a heater under glass without these or the like, or your snake or reptile could be injured. My only complaint is not with the product but with the product description. this is the size of a 55 gallon tank as if all 55 gallon tanks were the same size but they are not. The size in inches is for packaging. The actual size of a piece of eco rug is 47.5" x 12.5". My terrarium is actually larger than 55 gallons and deeper than this approx. So I cut the piece in half and overlapped it in the middle to completely cover the heated side and there was no carpet under the cold side. I had no problem with my snake trying to burrow under the carpet.
