Review on Accurate and Easy-to-Use General Tools 828 Digital Protractor for Precise Angle Measurements by Mike Hicks

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Decent value for the price

The General Tools 828 Digital Sliding Tee and Digital Intractor are awkward to hold due to the sharp edge of the cheap plastic handle. A plastic pen requires sharp edges that need to be smoothed out with a file or sandpaper. Care must be taken when loosening the forward-facing knurled lock nut on the sliding T-bevel, as the threads of the fastening screw are short and the screw and rear shim washer cannot be prevented from falling out quickly. Tests, the unit accuracy I have received is less than stated, bearing in mind that all measured values are only repeatably valid when rounded to the nearest whole degree. Fractional numbers displayed cannot be reproduced even if the unit is carefully set to zero. Therefore, displaying values to tenths of a degree can be informative but cannot be relied on for accuracy. There shouldn't be a display with an accuracy of 0.05 degrees, as this creates false expectations of accuracy. With the device you can easily reset zero to any reference surface; that's a great feature!
