Decent value for the price

The General Tools 828 Digital Sliding Tee and Digital Intractor are awkward to hold due to the sharp edge of the cheap plastic handle. A plastic pen requires sharp edges that need to be smoothed out with a file or sandpaper. Care must be taken when loosening the forward-facing knurled lock nut on the sliding T-bevel, as the threads of the fastening screw are short and the screw and rear shim washer cannot be prevented from falling out quickly. Tests, the unit accuracy I have received is less…

There is still work to be done before it becomes a five star tool.

Seems accurate and reproducible. Looks well made and sturdy. However, there are a few areas for improvement. First is the location of the buttons. The buttons are located exactly where the fingers stop during use. This makes it too easy to hit the zero button when the blade isn't in the base, resulting in wild readings. It's also too easy to hit the lock button and think you're getting consistent readings when the gauge is actually locked to one value. I don't know if a cover can be designed to

Good T-Bevel, bad protractor

As for the T-Bevel, it's of decent quality and works as expected. I can easily transfer known angles with it. Five stars for that aspect alone. As for the digital protractor, however, it's only worth one star to me. To test the accuracy of the protractor's functionality, I zeroed it on a known flat surface and then compared it to two known 90 degree angles - one was a carpenter's angle and the other was my Jevon 3D angle. Both fluctuated constantly within half a degree, plus or minus. Every…

you don't have a fixed measurement for like a square). Unfortunately, it easily loses its angle measurement as the blade rotates, and you have to zero it before each measurement. To zero the instrument, place it on a flat surface with the blade closed and press the reset button. If you then rotate the blade 180 degrees (careful, as the plunger re-enters the groove the unit tends to lose angle) you get an idea of the accuracy (my readings ranged from 179.7 to perfect 180). - this means you can…

Great product if you are looking for a $20 tool

This is my first time writing reviews based on the product description and comparing the price and quality. I felt this T Bevel met both criteria and gave it 4 stars accordingly. If you're looking for a $20 tool that measures angles fairly accurately, this is a great little tool. If you're looking for something that measures to within 0.0001%, come on, it's $20. I have better T-Bevels for reference, but not digital ones. I bought it to cut trims, find non-standard angles for frames and woodwork

Cool tool. It could be better.

In use for a few months. At first I didn't think I would use it often, but in fact I use it almost every day. The house we are working on has walls and eaves that follow a curve so all the infill frames connecting them meet at a different angle and/or slope, requiring a bevel or bevel or compound bevel. This tool eliminates much of the math and steps involved in measuring an angle with an old-school protractor, tracing that angle on your material, and then aligning the saw or speed angle to…

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires outlet

I do a lot of fancy woodwork. The best way to use this T-bevel is to measure the cutting angle. Using it as a protractor won't work because the two arms aren't in the same plane, even though they are parallel. Your saw doesn't cut perfectly straight to begin with, so dimensions may vary depending on how and where you hold the T-Bevel. This isn't a straight edge either because the arms are too short. On some things the levers are too long or the protrusion of the screw gets in the way, like in…
