This is more of a chalk finger paint than a stain or glaze unless you are referring to a pre-fired ceramic glaze. But you never fire it I have no doubt that now if you watch the post-purchase video you can do all sorts of cool things by mixing it with other chemicals and epoxy for finishing, but if you just take the stuff in the bottle. and place it directly on something and expect it to be done (that was my understanding based on the description because I didn't see any mention of the relatively extensive processes required) you have a chalky mess that looks like your 5- Sommer went to town and forgot to clean up. Yes, you can fix the colors with varnish and the colors will not be what you imagined. The good thing is that this stuff doesn't really repair itself. It just dries up. So if you find you don't need it, you can wash it off with water and it's gone. This will likely leave a very faint stain, but if you're going to be painting over it anyway, who cares? And if you choose an alcohol or oil based stain, it will hide any hue that has been transferred anyway. But if you think you can use this product on its own and then squirt some water on it, you'll end up with something like the I ran in Tammy Faye at the Mall t-shirt. This is one star because the product itself is not what it claims to be. I would return it if I could, but I think it's too late.
