Review on Cordiant Winter Drive 2 255/55 R18 109T by Michal Adach ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A valuable purchase, some advantages!

purchased for use in the city, where wintertime lows typically fall between +2 and –10. I considered my options carefully and read the tests in reputable magazines. I first made a stop at the Continental since I didn't want to take any chances (price: $5500 per unit). Then, despite everything, I made the decision to try a 2022 manufacturer because I really wanted to personally test (check) whether the difference in consumer qualities is as significant as the difference in price (as opposed to Continental - a benefit of 10,000 for 4 pieces). Rubber is entirely content. Fortunately, the weather cooperated and snowed while I was at the test)))). Conditions: 3 degrees Celsius, 5 cm of snow, and frost from car roll-overs in some areas. Acceleration to 60 km/h with confidence, maintaining the trajectory nicely (faster in the city is not worth it). The Solaris car has decent brakes on the same surface, and the ABS activates quickly (although it's difficult to evaluate since we've had the car for a while). Although Solaris is not silent, the comfort level was pretty soft, but it appeared to be a little noisy. The car slowly slid out of the turn when entering a roundabout when rolled up to the ice, somewhat uphill, and with the steering wheel turned out. Steering correction was necessary. In conclusion, decent winter tires are affordable.

Pros
  • On snow and ice, confident acceleration and effective braking. On any surface, predictable vehicle behavior.
Cons
  • Noisey on a smooth surface, low lateral traction on ice.
