Critical functional flaws - design flaws

I bought this kettle to replace another kettle that had a broken handle and because it was advertised as having a handle that doesn't get hot . Well, it's getting hot. Very hot. More on that later. So while cleaning out 3 boils I measured the cooking times on 3 different burners (I have 5 of 3 different sizes total) to see which one cooks the fastest. The silicon case proved useless on all but the smallest burners, with the flame scorching the bottom edge of the case nearby. Okay, he went in the trash since he looked like shit now, but I still didn't have high hopes for his survival. But the cooking time was 12 minutes, 13 minutes, and 15 minutes for the three burner sizes, respectively. Almost 5 minutes longer than the kettle it replaces. I think because of its height and narrow base. Even though less water is needed to brew than with my old kettle, the boiling time is annoying. My old kettle is thick and low and fits nicely on the largest burner on my stove. After checking the temperature with three thermometers, I found that the thermometer that came with the kettle was off by almost 10 degrees, which is a lot for accurate coffee brewing. ok so i can tune in and ignore the numbers they write on the dial and get closer. But the worst part is the pen. They made it look like it was heat resistant and it said so on the listing and on the box. It is not. In fact, from the end to the connection to the kettle, after fully boiling the water at the maximum fill line and then removing it from the stove, the temperature ranged from 106 to 193 degrees Fahrenheit at the connection. And forget your fancy thumb pad, the temperature was over 200 degrees Fahrenheit. So without an oven pad, you should have really big corns. In general, it's functional and looks good, but it doesn't perform at all in critical areas of functionality. The silicone case is a joke, and the handle is a conductor from the hinges of Hell's Door. Good luck, your results may vary.
