Review on πŸ”Œ Cable Matters USB 3.0 to Ethernet Adapter - Black (Supports 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet Network) by Michael Hemmig

Revainrating 5 out of 5

works well on FreeBSD

Works well on FreeBSD 11.0 (generic kernel). Decent throughput on USB3 on MSI Cubi Mini PC (no errors), but standard drivers can limit it to 100MB. On FreeBSD, dmesg shows a device using the cdce driver (Common USB Ethernet Driver) represented as a USB Ethernet device ue: cdce0: <CDC Communications Control> on usbus0ue0: <USB Ethernet> on cdce0 For my purposes a full gigabyte isn't required, but a solid combination of hardware and drivers is paramount, so this works well for me. FreeBSD users looking for performance should look for an adapter with dedicated driver support.

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
