works well on FreeBSD

Works well on FreeBSD 11.0 (generic kernel). Decent throughput on USB3 on MSI Cubi Mini PC (no errors), but standard drivers can limit it to 100MB. On FreeBSD, dmesg shows a device using the cdce driver (Common USB Ethernet Driver) represented as a USB Ethernet device ue: cdce0: <CDC Communications Control> on usbus0ue0: <USB Ethernet> on cdce0 For my purposes a full gigabyte isn't required, but a solid combination of hardware and drivers is paramount, so this works well for me…

Great adapter for network products

This adapter does exactly what it promises! I have a relatively new laptop with a 100Mb network card built in, but the internet speed is much faster. The laptop also has a USB 3.0 port and I am successfully using it with this adapter. It was very much like plug-n-play; I didn't even notice that drivers were loaded on first connection (on Windows 10). The adapter seems to get a little warm, but has been in use almost every day for several weeks and works perfectly. I would definitely recommend…

Great Network Speed Booster

So a very smart guy on the internet says that this device connected to your LG OLED is bypassing your ethernet card 10-100 and increasing your network speed significantly. With half a gigabyte online I wish my money was worth my money so I ordered one. Initial results were disappointing, I checked Netflix and my speed went from 94 Mbps to 124. Oh my god! Not worth $13, really. So I tried again a few weeks later for fun. 322 megabytes per second! Wow. Basically I use my 4k firestick. It's 5G…

It broke my Nintendo Switch

DO NOT BUY. This adapter has caused me many problems and almost complete hardware failures on my switch. I plugged everything in, tried to set it up, but the switch didn't recognize the plug in because the ethernet end was loose and needed to be pushed further in after the CAT6 click. After figuring this out, the switch couldn't identify the network and suggested a reboot. I rebooted, opened internet settings and it froze on a gray screen. I decide to turn it off and the screen goes black, but…

MacBook owners you need this

I got a new modem and NAS but my computer still had and was reading/writing at around 30-40MB/s I'm not going to scale it down for what I do, so I wanted that gigabyte ethernet connection. What I want to buy: - USB to 10/100/1000 Ethernet - Price - No software to install Design: This USB to Ethernet works great and is 5½ to 6 inches long. The only problem I had was that I wanted a USB-C and ordered a USB-A end in a hurry. Luckily I had an adapter and I tried it out and it worked like magic on…

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • I won't say anything

I had a strange problem on my home network where my router (thanks AT&T) was acting like crazy. I had problems with ARP/IP addresses. I've spent hours diagnosing this problem and have concluded that the problem is with my network adapter or router. I thought buying this little guy would be useful for future network troubleshooting and I couldn't reset my router. I plugged it in and my router responded to my computer again. I got permission to tear down the router and start over. This NIC is now

UPDATE 08/29/2020: another bug. While there is a one year limited warranty (whatever that means), when I click the product support button it tells me the window ended in May 2020 - 6 months after purchase. I cannot contact the seller, in my case Cable Matters - there is no contact information on their homepage so I don't know how to contact them regarding the 1 year warranty. I'll try to ask you a question from the Revain seller side. UPDATE 3/21/2020: I got an Apple Thunderbolt adapter, used…
