An ugly bathroom is good for brackets and shelf supports

I was so disappointed! Everything seemed to be going great, but I had so many problems. I'm pretty skilled and not afraid of some DIY, but it didn't go well. If not one, then another. I was very careful and thought everything over before drilling the holes but to no avail. Maybe it would work if someone helped me and I had better tools (a suction cup laser level would be nice). the hardware is wall mounted 2. Ensure there is 1/2"-1" clearance between the shelf and the wall 3. Ensure the hardware is mounted to the post and/or wall anchor and PERFECTLY flat. If any of this is wrong, all sorts of problems arise.
