USB has 4 wires: power, ground, data+, data-. I've found that most USB chargers short out the data lines. This is a USB standard that tells the device that it's connected to a charging port (not a computer) and will draw a higher current to charge the battery faster. I've tested several chargers that come with ohmmeter devices and proved that the data lines are indeed shorted. When I tested Tripp Lite, the data lines were not shorted. As a result, my phone only draws 500 milliamps from the Tripp Lite charger instead of the 1 amp it draws from the OEM charger, resulting in much slower charge times. This can be fixed by using a "charge only" USB cable, shorting the data lines in the cable. It would be much better if Tripp Lite did this inside.
