Very easy to make a perfect hole in a quartz countertop

I needed a 0.5" hole for a filtered faucet, that I wanted to install. My quartz countertop is 3cm high so I needed a hole saw deep enough to make this cut. at an angle until a small crescent is carved, then slowly move the cutting head until it is just above the surface. This worked great for me and saved me the time of having to cut the bracket out of wood and secure it in place like others do. It was a bit nerve wracking at first (worries about damaging an expensive countertop) but it was actually easy when i started I built a dam around the area with plumbing and filled it with water to keep the drill bit cold while cutting. I went slow and the hole was cut with no problem. It took about 5 minutes (maybe less) from start to finish. I used a variable speed drill and kept it near the low end of the speed range. If you're wondering if you can do it, I'd suggest trying it. I'm pretty skilled, but I've never tried to cut this way. I would definitely do it myself again if the need arose.

Pros

Cons
  • Can't remember
