During my first batch of kraut made after receiving the lids and nibs, one of the lids I used was missing the gasket leaving only tiny holes in the lid. I only washed and unscrewed the lid a few times during preparation and found it was missing the last time. I think it was on initially but obviously didn't notice when it went off. As easy as the filling comes off, I expect some replacement parts to be free. Also, since I can't find the seal anywhere, I can't help but think it's in my cabbage somewhere, waiting for someone to eat it; It's penny sized and transparent silicone. I suggest that in the future Trellis make colored silicone seals so they are more visible on the can, outside the can and possibly in your food.
