Replaced a faulty block 6 years ago

Turns out my previous block was glued to the inside of the case and the fluid cup wasn't used. I've researched whether this is correct and really never found a solid answer. However, the original sensor worked the first day we bought the boat (used) and then stopped for me, which goes without saying. I found it had peeled off and wasn't glued in place so I glued it back on. still won't work. He could hear making noises, but he never showed depth. So I bought a new sensor---and the new one had an 8-pin connector instead of a 6-pin. Took a Garmin adapter cable and did a test run to make sure it was a sensor and it would work with the new sensor. . From there I used 3M Marine 5200 glue to glue the cup to the body. This time I moved it forward 10 inches to make it much easier to access and I also left enough free wire. Let it dry for a day and then use RV antifreeze as the liquid and install. I checked again. Everything worked. how it should be. This is where I deducted 1 star when I gave it a slight tug to check it was seated correctly and it popped out of the tongue on one side. Short enough to hold, but any pull up will loosen it. I'll keep an eye on it, but it should stay in place with normal use. Overall, it was more difficult to get to where they originally routed the wiring, cut the zip ties, etc. so I could route the new wire along with the original. Once I got past that stage, it was easy to install and put everything back together. "When we took over --- the service was severely lacking. Another item on the list to fix! UPDATE 10/16: So the sensor is working fine, but as mentioned the installation of the mounting cup leaves a lot to be desired. For that I give 2 stars. Yes it works. Yes, I installed it correctly, but the sensor popped out of the bracket. At the weekend he came at least four times for free. Luckily it's easy to reach and always on one side - it comes out of the holder. If you press straight down, it comes right back, but comes out too easily. I would ask for a new cup, but if it's the clamp on the gauge that doesn't fit ---- I won't do all the work to find out. To solve this problem I'm going to do a holder mount---that will solve it, but I don't have to.
